Life of the Congregation

Organ Revovation Complete
In July of 2024, the congregation approved the renovation of our six rank 1976 Wicks Pipe Organ. The renovation was expertly completed in time for Easter Sunday 2025 by Bogue Organ Services. Aaron, who took over the business from his father, Daniel Bogue, along with his brother Cheston have known the organ since they were young men helping their father on service calls, so we are delighted to have them as our technicians.
The old magnetic relays that communicated from the console (keyboards, pedal board, and stops) were replaced with solid state action. Miles of wires and cables were replaced by a compact motherboard that has greater control over tonal production and provides more flexibility. The organ was originally voiced for a full room, so we’ve toned things down for our current setting and added a beautiful flute stop for additional color. The console was cleaned-up, the stop tabs were replaced, and the combination action (allows the organist to instantly set stop registrations) can accommodate up to 100 organists! There are other bells and whistles that make the instrument more flexible to accompany our worship as well as recitals.
The refurbished organ will help us to lift our hearts and voices for years to come.
Quarterly Food Pantry Sundays
Seeing the need to provide for the food insecure in our community, members of our congregation founded The Bensenville-Wood Dale Food Pantry in the lower level of our church along with the schools and civic organizations in our area. The Pantry has since spun-off as its own 501(c)3 organization, but still resides in our facility, and along with the dedicated director and volunteers, has fed countless families.
Every quarter, our congregation takes up a collection to fund specific needs the Pantry has to provide the very best for the clients who come every Saturday. Look for announcements in the Sunday Bulletin and the Monthly Newsletter.

Snack & Chat
Every Sunday after worship between September and June, we gather for refreshments in Dettmann Hall. It’s a great opportunity to catch up and socialize. Some Committees meet during this time and many ideas and insights are exchanged. If you’d like to host one Sunday, there’s a sign-up on the Great Hall bulletin board, or you can contact either Cheryl or the church office.
