Pastor Catherine’s Installation

On Sunday, February 26, 2012,  at 3:00 p.m. the Rev. Catherine Batten-Balk was installed as Pastor and Teacher at Faith Community United Church of Christ, Bensenville. It was an historic moment for the Faith UCC congregation, as Rev. Balk is the first “called” pastor of the recently merged congregations of Peace, Immanuel and St. John’s UCC churches of Bensenville.
Participants in the installation service of worship included the Illinois Conference UCC Associate Minister, Rev. Jonathan Knight, who officiated during the instllation, and delivered the afternoon message, “Get Up, Get Dressed, Follow Me”; Rev. Michael Linder, representing the Fox Valley Association UCC, and co-officiating the installation; Rev. Jack Battan, the father of Rev. Balk, who presented the Charge to the Pastor; and  Rev. Kevin MacLemore, who presented the Charge to the Congregation. Also participating were various members of Faith Community UCC who had leadership roles in the installation worship and other activities of the day.
This installation of Rev. Balk confirmed and celebrated the crucial covenantal relationship that exists between our local church, our newly called pastor, and the broader denominational body of the United Church of Christ.
A reception was held immediately following the worship time together.
